When Dennis Shiao launched the Bay Area Content Marketing Meetup in 2015, he didn’t really know what he was doing. Shiao attended presentations and networking events in San Francisco and San Jose and launched a Meetup as a way to gather marketers near San Mateo (i.e., a town in between the two cities).
Seven years later, the meetup has 1,800+ global members and hosted 50+ in-person and 85+ online meetups, hosting talks by a U.S. Congresswoman and Joe Pulizzi, Founder of Content Marketing Institute.
The meetup helped Shiao build a personal brand and drive business for his marketing agency.
