When the pandemic pushed much of the workforce into working from home, it felt as if the industry was accelerating at great speed into a long-promised future where technology would support widespread remote working. But, as the return to the office got under way, with many workers reluctant to give up newfound freedoms and flexibility, a new challenge has emerged. This is to ensure equity between employees who work and collaborate from home and those in the office, both to boost team productivity and creativity and to support diversity in the workforce. We ask whether hybrid working creates new requirements for technology projects, we ask what meeting equity means in practice, and look for practical guidance on making sure technology truly supports hybrid working arrangements that are efficient and equitable.
