About this talk

Continue with our 2022 Altitude Series with Gannett and how they secure their experiences across billions of requests. Like most enterprises, Gannett, the publisher of many well-known media brands such as USA Today as well as hundreds of local media outlets in 46 states across the country, needed a robust API Gateway/Management platform that provides authentication, origin protection, and other features vital to scaling and protection. When the company discovered that their off-the-shelf API management solution was underperforming, Gannett discovered that they could create their own API management solution (which they call Fastly API Management (FAM)) using the versatile Fastly platform. By moving the API layer to Fastly’s platform, Manager, Site Reliability Engineering, Bilal Fazal, and Principal Engineer, Kris Vincent share how their team was able to significantly improve security, average response time and cost savings. Today FAM handles over 3 billion requests per month distributed across 89 proxies. Join us for our next session with Nick Rockwell, EVP Engineering & Infrastructure at Fastly, for his discussion of building the future of Fastly's global network that meets our customer's needs to program and innovate. Speakers: - Bilal Fazal, Manager Site Reliability Engineering at Gannett - Kristopher Vincent, Principal Engineer at Gannett
