Volumetric media is a technology that enables the capture of an object or scene in three dimensions and its playback independent from the original capture position or orientation. Volumetric video is the video form of volumetric media, sometimes also called immersive video, 6DoF video, or spatial video.
In essence, volumetric video bridges the gap between 2D video and 3D graphics by bringing video elements into a 3D environment. Volumetric media representations may include and are not limited to multi-view video (+depth), mesh sequences, voxel sequences, point cloud sequences, and other 3D primitive sequences or radiance field representations.
What Will Be Covered
This webinar will introduce the foundations of volumetric video and why it is rising in popularity among entertainment and sports media professionals. Research initiatives and projects are beginning to mature, and the technology is stabilizing, permitting commercial offerings to emerge. Understanding the latest developments will permit AR managers, developers, and platform providers to explore how volumetric video can be used to complement or to integrate with Augmented Reality technologies in enterprise use cases.
Attendees will gain insights into:
- How volumetric video is captured, compressed, transmitted, and visualized in workplace conditions to produce the most reliable results.
- How AR platform providers may consider integrating volumetric video into their offerings
- The different volumetric video variables or flavors that a customer must consider when choosing a provider/partner or implementing volumetric video into their systems.
The webinar is tailored to answer questions and inform enterprise AR project managers, architects, developers, and platform providers.
