About this talk

In order to identify strategies for bringing carbon emissions under control, one of the first steps we need to take as a technology community is to measure the actual emissions. Emissions caused by Scope 1 (fossil fuel burning) and Scope 2 (electricity consumed during production) are relatively easy to measure. Unfortunately, measuring Scope 3 emissions has presented a major challenge. Scope 3 emissions are important because they make up 80% of all carbon output during the manufacturing process. Produced across the supply chain and distribution network, Scope 3 emissions include carbon generated by logistics, raw material, the carbon footprint of parts used, and so on. In this webinar, Eric Barnstedt, OPC Foundation, and Achalesh Pandey, GE Digital, will explain how digital twins are being leveraged to provide clear insights into the carbon footprint across an organization’s entire manufacturing supply chain. This includes a breakthrough way to measure, track, and report on Scope 3.
