Join Tar Heels Together for University Research Week’s capstone event, featuring a lively panel discussion on Carolina’s sustained, holistic response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Presenting an all-star panel of frontline research experts, the conversation will be moderated by renowned viral immunologist and Tar Heel alumna Kizzmekia Corbett ’14 (PhD), who is currently leading a team at the National Institute of Health to find a safe and effective vaccine.

•Lori Carter-Edwards ’95, PhD, UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, is leading the COVID-19 Community Engaged Risk Communication Project, leveraging rural, Black, faith-based social connections to spread critical COVID-19 information.
•Melissa Miller, PhD, UNC School of Medicine, led the development of a rapid-result COVID-19 test that increased statewide testing capacity — her lab is currently processing 2,500 tests a day.
•Timothy Sheahan, PhD, UNC Gillings, works on the development and testing of prominent coronavirus treatments, including the successful antiviral remdesivir.
