1 in 5 properties in the UK are at risk of surface water flooding, and with global flood losses projected to increase five-fold by 2050, it is critical to understand and manage your flood risk.

While flood alerts are available in many regions, they often fail to cover key risks such as surface water flooding, smaller streams and rivers, drainage systems and other water bodies. This gap leaves businesses and communities vulnerable to significant, yet preventable, impacts.

In recent years, the accumulation of insured losses from SCS (severe convective storms—usually tornadoes and hail) has been the single biggest loss driver in the insurance industry worldwide—larger than hurricanes. The frequency and severity of SCS continue to increase. Yet the insurance solutions available to manage the risks from these events are inadequate for many US insurance carriers. 

Failure to address this major source of risk can lead to financial problems such as reduced earnings and surpluses, and impact an insurer's AM Best ratings.
