COVID-19 and Brexit have left many investors uncertain about the future of UK real estate. Many were surprised by the rebound that took place in August when the market reopened. This leaves us with the question as to whether UK Real Estate is, in fact, a better defensive investment strategy than cash and how will it survive this double crisis?
The webinar will take a close look at what is happening in the markets and will address emerging problems and opportunities, and practical approaches to addressing them. It will also look at how the banks are responding to the situation and at the evolving legal and tax issues that have arisen. We will examine changing appetites for investment types, funding schemes, and legal structures.
The webinar is organised by the Arab Bankers Association (ABA) and will be delivered by:
- Liam Bailey, Partner, Global Head of Research, Knight Frank, who will address market trends in London and the regions and will cast a comparative look at Dubai and New York.
- Bassam Khazen, Head of Acquisitions UK, Commercial Real Estate, National Bank of Kuwait (International), who will examine bank responses to the crisis and to evolving client needs.
- Trevor Norman, Director, Islamic Finance and Funds, VG, who will inform us on what he is seeing from clients in our region and give us his views on evolving legal structures and warnings about tax considerations.
There will be a panel Q&A which will be moderated by George Kanaan, CEO of the Arab Bankers Association.
