The energy sector, among others, has been hit hard over the last few years by natural disasters like hurricanes and of course, the COVID-19 pandemic. Having a truly mobile workforce becomes an imperative.
In energy exploration, teams of scientists who normally use powerful workstations containing GPUs to interpret 3D subsurface models using applications like Schlumberger Petrel had to wait for floodwaters to recede after Hurricane Harvey before they could access their powerful GPU workstations. Productivity took an enormous hit costing millions of dollars.
As a result, contingency plans were put in place. One plan was to have 3D interpretation workers already working remotely before the next disaster struck. RVIZ evolves this contingency plan into a complete paradigm change: a truly remote work model.
Join this Red Hat-sponsored webinar to see how PCPC Direct, Red Hat, NVIDIA, Mechdyne, Leostream and Lenovo created an offering called RVIZ.
RVIZ serves up high-end 3D graphics-intensive applications in a truly remote manner. A user with a laptop and a standard Internet connection can run big 3D models without click wait, stutter or pixelization from home or elsewhere.
