About this talk

Join Dr. Ruby Booth from Sandia National Laboratories as they discuss the importance of federal decision-makers must make deterministic choices about future planning resource prioritization, mitigation implementation, and the creation of policy, regulations, and laws. They seek to ensure that our critical infrastructure – from food and water to electricity and internet to our democratic process – is safe and secure. Exacerbating that challenge is the interconnectedness of critical infrastructure systems, the quality and availability of data, and the shortage of risk professionals trained to work in this important but idiosyncratic analysis area. The events of recent years have underscored the need for robust, effective, and responsive analytic capabilities at all levels of government. It is not only essential that decision-makers be able to plan for expected harms, but that they be able to react quickly and effectively to sudden, novel, or unexpected hazards.
