Join us for an update from David Law on the latest developments in IEEE 802.3 standards. Eleven new operating rates have been added to the Ethernet standard over that last 36 years, since the publication of the first IEEE 802.3 10Mb/s Ethernet Standard in 1985, with six of those new rates added in just the last five years. This has been accompanied by an expansion of Ethernet into application far removed from its original roots of interconnecting computers computer workstations and printers. Both trends are continuing today with current Ethernet standard projects addressing a diver set of application areas including Automotive, Industrial Control and Data Centre Interconnects, with discussion underway about the next Ethernet rate beyond 400 Gb/s. The session will provide an overview of what has driven this evolution of the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standard, a review of the current IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standard projects, and an overview of proposed projects
