About this talk

An argument since the early days of open source is .. what does "free" really mean? Open source represents free access and free participation, open communities, transparency, and innovation. But one thing is cannot be is "free" as in beer - because to make more secure, reliable, stable, and user-friendly software, there are certain activities that have to happen. There is a lot of effort that goes into making good software, especially critical foundational software like the operating system. This session covers: * The (conceptual) differences between community and enterprise software * How enterprise software can increase productivity, optimize resource utilization, and reduce lost time * What is included in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux subscription * How to evaluate what you need from community or enterprise software for your specific needs
