About this talk

Please join Richard Woolnough, Fund Manager from the M&G Optimal Income Strategy team as they look back at an eventual first six months of 2024 for bonds, while assessing the pathway for interest rates and inflation in the coming period and how it shapes Optimal portfolio positioning. We’re over the halfway point of an eventful year for fixed income. Both inflation and economic growth have proved consistently inconsistent, leaving investors eager to second guess the direction of central bank policy for the rest of 2024. It also feels like it’s the Year of Elections, as key European democracies come under voter scrutiny this summer, followed by November’s US presidential election. So, although it is a volatile and unpredictable time for investors, we’re here to try and help. Also find out: How being active and flexible in bond selection helps investors navigate rates uncertainty, while potentially capturing opportunities in less-favoured areas of the yield curve What’s the deal with rates risk vs. credit risk? Is it the case of taking one or the other? How having one of Europe’s biggest credit research desks can support value capture in corporate bonds. The value of investments will fluctuate, which will cause prices to fall as well as rise and you may not get back the original amount you invested. Past performance is not a guide to future performance.
