Finance for inclusion in a time of crisis: how global remittances businesses are supporting the underserved.
One in nine people globally rely on remittances sent home from migrant workers abroad (UN 2019). The COVID-19 crisis has caused unprecedented disruptions, bringing many cross-border transactions to a halt, and has already had a significant impact on the financial wellbeing of recipients who depend on them.
In a fireside chat, Catalyst Fund director Maelis Carraro will be joined by executives from leading global remittance firm WorldRemit and Pan-African mobile money transfer company Chipper Cash, to discuss the role remittances can play in contributing to financial inclusion and improved financial health for underserved populations. They'll also discuss their own approach to easing the burden on vulnerable communities and small businesses during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Speakers:
Maelis Carraro, Director, Catalyst Fund
Alicia Levine, COO, Chipper Cash
Adriana Marques, Managing Director, Europe and Global Network, WorldRemit
