About this talk

The presence of so-called “grey-market machines as illegal ways to gamble continue to create legal and regulatory issues for the gaming industry, as operators and regulators grapple with how to address a wide range of alternative ways to gamble including illegal slot machines operating as “games of skill.” In addition, there has been a considerable expansion of “free to play” od co-called “social casino” gaming options in the US markets. This panel will provide an update on the existing US legal challenges against the gray market and evaluate what regulators and operators can do together to combat the proliferation of “gray” slot machines. In addition the panel will update how peer-to-peer skill game contests, freemium gaming (a/k/a “social casinos”), and daily fantasy sports variants remain unregulated but have been challenged by civil litigation, and similar issues being faced around the world. Moderated by Bill Gantz, a Partner with Duane Morris, the panelists include: • Daron Dorsey, Executive Director, AGEM • Wulf Hambach, Partner, Hambach & Hambach • Jeff Morris, Vice President – Public Affairs & Government Relations: PENN Entertainment • Michael Pollock, Senior Policy Advisor, Spectrum Gaming Group
