OpenSlice Release 2024 Q4 Webinar

Augmented Reality (AR) registers AR assets in 3D with the real world in real-time. To achieve this, an AR system estimates the 3D transform of the AR device in relation to the real-world objects, or conversely, based on its different sensors. 
This webinar will present the recently published ETSI specifications and available tools for providing a world representation and performing pose estimation on various AR devices. Pose estimation is achieved by combining the world representation with data from the device sensors and can be conducted locally or on a remote computing platform.

Get Ready for Quantum Era: Insights from the ETSI/IQC QSC Conference

Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) are wireless communication platforms operating above the surface of the Earth, typically achieved using satellites in low, medium or geostationary orbit as well as drones, High Altitude Platforms (HAPS) and other aerial systems. A component of 5G since 3GPP Release 17, there is now general agreement that future 6G will feature the “native integration” of NTN from the outset.

Recognizing the importance of the topic, ETSI recently held a Conference on ‘Non-Terrestrial Networks, a Native Component of 6G’ (https://www.etsi.org/events/2306-etsi-ntn-conference#pane-1/). The conference examined NTN use cases, candidate technologies, current research status and standardization roadmaps.

CAPIF from Standards to Practice: Synergy between 3GPP, ETSI MEC and OpenCAPIF

ETSI’s Industry Specification Group (ISG) THz provides the opportunity for ETSI members to share their pre-standardization efforts on THz technology resulting from various collaborative research projects and being extended with relevant global initiatives.
The first two deliverables of this group are available. The first one is identifying and describing use cases either enabled by or highly benefiting from the use of THz communications. The second one sheds a light on the regulatory landscape and identifies the most interesting frequency bands for THz communications, as it is at the time of publication.

Highlights and Outcomes of the ETSI AI Conference

Global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have risen dramatically over the last three decades and are of major concern for our society. Fibre-powered broadband solutions can help address these issues by providing high-speed, low-latency connections with high reliability and energy efficiency. The telecom industry has been pointed out as one of the drivers of carbon emission increase, but an attentive analysis demonstrates that a smart use of telecom networks, with state-of-the-art network technologies, allows a net carbon emission that tends to zero.

How can all-optical networks contribute to carbon transition?

OSM Release FOURTEEN makes generally available the new scalable architecture for service assurance based on Apache Airflow and Prometheus already introduced in previous release, now including the closed loops for auto-scaling and the handling of alerts coming from the VNF. This architecture is prepared to cover the most demanding service assurance scenarios such as auto-healing and auto-scaling in large clouds and multiple edge sites. In addition, Release FOURTEEN includes significant improvements in other key areas such as secured helm-based Execution Environments (EE), new capabilities for NS deployment, relevant enhancements in user management policies and audit logs, a helm-based installation of OSM and some enhancements in OSM client. This webinar will present the highlights of the new release along with some demonstrations of the new capabilities and use cases.

OSM Release FOURTEEN Overview: a New Scalable Architecture for Service Assurance

This is the 4th and last event of the 2023 ETSI ZSM Webinar Series. The ultimate target of zero-touch network & service automation is a largely autonomous operation, enabling self-management, self-healing and self-optimization – without further human intervention. Trust is a major barrier to adoption and striving to build it requires a continuous learning process. As more automation processes are deployed and operate securely and efficiently, human trust will increase. Having native security (e.g. an adaptive secured framework, access control, trustworthiness, data protection) can help to establish confidence and instill trust as the automated processes deliver the intended business outcomes.
