NFV continues to gain prominence in both the telecom industry and enterprises. OPNFV is an open source systems integration project to create and test open source to help create a complete NFV stack as defined by the ETSI reference architecture. However, the unique nature of the project makes it difficult to understand than "traditional" open source software development projects.
