About this talk

In this webinar, Dr Paolo Ocampo, Pathologist in Data Science Imaging at Genentech/Roche Personalised Healthcare, will explore the immense potential of deep-learning models to improve accuracy, efficiency and reproducibility in the clinical practice of anatomic pathology. Presenting an example from his published work, he will describe a deep-learning strategy that uses scanned whole-slide pathology images and convolutional neural networks to classify lung cancer tumours accurately and predict disease-linked gene mutations in patients with adenocarcinoma. Importantly, Dr Ocampo will discuss the remaining challenges that need to be overcome to unlock the full clinical value of artificial intelligence in pathology.
